My school reports all said the same thing.
Could do better. Must try harder.
What do negative words do to a small person who has done her best?
I’ll tell you what they do.
They start a life-long story.

I felt unprepared for life.
So, what did I do?
I tried harder.
At work. In love. At everything.
See me and hear me.
I must make people happy.
To win recognition.
I nearly killed myself trying to earn it.
Exhausting all my energy.
Seeing only my failures.
Never the successes.
I was blind to the truth.
That happiness lies in every moment.

Nature easily goes with the flow.
The roses in my garden don’t strain to bloom.
Back yourself.
You are perfect.
Choose happiness and positivity.
Don’t focus on what’s absent.
Look at what you have.
And be grateful.
Plant seeds of your desires.
In the stillness of meditation.
Let go, and watch how they unfold.

Somewhere, a small girl is still waiting.
I know she did her best.
She was always enough.
She didn’t have to earn love and recognition.

Your life will blossom just like the roses in my garden.
Ask yourself, what am I still trying to prove?
And what would happen if I just stopped?
